WORLD CLEAN UP 2023 WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE 16TH OF SEPTEMBER!
If it has already started to seem to you that Estonia has become clean, it is not quite the case – there are many littered places and nature in Estonia. We have a particularly large amount of small trash and smokestacks, as well as other packaging and plastic items.
The purpose of World Cleanup Day this summer and autumn is to draw even more attention to the healthy state of the Baltic Sea and raise people’s awareness that it is one of the most polluted seas in the world.
We also urge people to notice the garbage problem in cemeteries – a one-time plastic grave candle turns into garbage within hours of being read at the grave of a loved one. The more disposable candle cups you take to the grave at once, the greater the amount of trash will be floating around the grave afterwards.
So let’s go and clean up together – with our class, colleagues, family or friends! Lets choose the beaches, forests, parks, water bodies, cemeteries and city streets that we love as the cleaning place and pick up everything that does not belong to the nature.
WHAT and WHERE TO CLEAN?
Garbage is everywhere. On cleaning day, we encourage you to notice especially small garbage, including smoke butts, which can be found in abundance in parking lots, bus stops, and roadsides.
Above all, we invite the participants to clean up their home area, for example around the childcare center, home and city streets, parks, and beaches.
IN 2023...
We have taken our water bodies to heart, including rivers and lakes, but especially the Baltic Sea and its beaches.
